HI, I’M REBECCA.

I'm a journalist and editor whose work sits at the intersection of investigative reporting, community engagement, and audience development. You can find my reporting in New York Magazine, The Guardian, The Marshall Project, Rolling Stone, New York Focus, The Daily Beast, and Hell Gate, among other outlets.

You can hear me discussing my reporting on the New York prison guard strike on North Country Public Radio here, and the censorship of journalism in prisons on Radio Catskill here. My reporting was recently cited by lawmakers calling for an investigation into conditions in New York’s maximum security women’s prison. I’m a contributing writer at Offrange, where I cover agriculture and food systems.

I was a Dow Jones News Fund audience engagement intern for The Marshall Project, and completed my MA in December 2025 at the Craig Newmark Graduate School of Journalism at CUNY, with concentrations in local accountability reporting and engagement journalism.

Previously, I worked as managing editor of the ACLU’s Communications Department, where I oversaw the News and Commentary section and other editorial projects.

I have a bachelor's degree in English from the University of Iowa, where I focused on nonfiction writing, and New York has been my home base for more than a decade.
